Female singers have been around for hundreds of years. There have been many changes since the time of June Carter Cash. Female musicians these days are mostly just performing instead of singing. These female singers spend their time on stage shaking their derriere more than they do actually singing.
Don't get me wrong not all of these female singers act this way. You have singers like Taylor Swift that has a tremendous voice and also has class and grace. Carrie Underwood is another female singer that can belt out a song like no other and doesn't have to show her body off to get attention because her voice is all she needs to get attention.
When these young girls that call themselves singers or musicians get on stage and shake their breast and butts all over the place to get attention it is just degrading. You might think I just do not get the new dances but I am not so old that I don't get the new dance crazes. You can do these dance without looking like a stripper.
I admit I am a little old fashioned about clothes. I believe that you shouldn't leave your house dressed in shorts that show your butt cheeks and I certainly do not believe you should wear something like that on a stage with thousands of people looking at you.
I thought I could get through this article without mentioning Miley Cyrus but I guess that is not going to happen. Miley Cyrus has great songs, she is beautiful, great personality, and a tremendous voice. With that being said, why in the world does she insist on degrading herself with her clothing and her out right ridiculous antics?
What happened to simply going on stage dressed appropriately and singing a good song with a great voice. You do not have to have trashy dancing and even trashier clothes to be seen. Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks and Carly Simon all did it without being trashy and became quite famous because of it.
These women didn't do vulgar dance moves and they wore clothes that didn't reveal too much. These female singers today have voices just as great as the older generation but you just don't realize it since all you can concentrate on is what they are wearing or not wearing in most cases. You are also distracted from their voices by the vulgar dance moves they do in their routines. Every decade the clothes get just a little more skimpy and the dances get a little more vulgar.
It doesn't have to be that way. If you are a famous singer you got signed because you have a wonderful voice so why not use that voice to win over fans instead of stripping down to barely nothing and simulating sex on stage. I get that most dances these days are a bit nasty for lack of a better word but you can do the popular dances without degrading yourself and your parents. What must these parents be thinking of their little girls up on stage showing off all of their body and shaking parts of their body that shouldn't be shook in public?
